There are basic of 12 steps for operating a backhoe.
Step 1: Perform a pre-inspection of the machine. Walk around the machine, and inspect for excessive wear, loose parts, leaks, cracks, or other damage. Check the engine compartment for excessive wear, loose parts, leaks, and fluid levels. Check the cab and other areas for excessive wear, damage, proper function, and cleanliness.
Step 2: Read the operator's manual.
Step 3: Use handrails, ladders, or attached steps when mounting the machine.
Step 4: Fasten your seat belt, set the brake, and place the transmission in neutral before starting the engine.
Step 5: Start the machine.
Step 6: Keep the loader bucket down on the ground while you level the machine.
Step 7: Begin to dig. Always operate the backhoe from the seat.
Step 8: Fill the bucket in accordance with manufacture’s instructions.
Step 9: Lift loads with the weight over the back of the machine, not the side.
Step 10: Dump the bucket uphill when working on a slope.
Step 11: Park on flat ground with the loader and backhoe buckets on the ground when finished.
Step 12: Relieve hydraulic pressure by working the controls before turning the backhoe off.
Machine Post Inspection: Conduct a post inspection. Walk around the machine, and inspect for excessive wear, loose parts, leaks, cracks, or other damage. Check the engine compartment for excessive wear, loose parts, leaks, and fluid levels. Check the cab and other areas for excessive wear, damage, proper function, and cleanliness. Follow the established guidelines for reporting any problems found and ensuring that problems are remedied.
